Kerala – popularly known as -God’s Own Country is located in the southwestern part of the country on the Malabar Coast. Celebrated as the spice coast, it has a rich historical past and played host to Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, French and the British who have left their imprint on this land in some form or the other. Kerala is one of the most progressive states in terms of social welfare and quality of life. As per 2011 census the population of Kerala was 33.41 million, of which the male population was 16.03 million and female population was 17.39 million. The literacy rate of Karnataka was 94%, of which the male literacy is 96.11% and female literacy is 100.76%. The sex ratio of Karnataka was 1084 females per 1000 males, which in itself is a unique feat for a country like India.
