Allied Health Sciences, Physician Assistant specialists are formally trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive health care service virtually in all medical specialties, as delegated by a physician. Working as members of a health care team, they take medical histories, examine and treat patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and X-rays and make diagnosis. They also treat minor injuries by suturing, splinting and casting. PAs record progress notes, instruct and counsel patients, and order to carry out therapy. Additional nonclinical positions are developing for physician assistants.

Dialysis technicians are responsible for operating the machines that do this and monitoring the patients undergoing treatment. Dialysis technicians works closely with patients, nurses and doctors to make sure this vital medical equipment runs smoothly.

Candidates will have training in haemo-dialysis, peritoneal dialysis, slow low efficiency dialysis and continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and plasmapheresis. Candidates are trained in wholesome renal care for patients with chronic kidney disease.

9. B.Sc. Neuro Electrophysiology

B.Sc. Neuro Electrophysiology will provide the knowledge, skills and practical experience to work as a professional healthcare scientist. Clinical physiologists (neurophysiology) work closely with patients of all ages to investigate the function of the nervous system in order to diagnose and monitor neurological disorders, including epilepsy, strokes, dementia, nerve and muscle dysfunction and multiple sclerosis. Candidates will gain an understanding and confidence in executing the procedures in neuro-electrophysiology including:

  • EEG (electroencephalography) - recording the electrical activity of the brain
  • Evoked potentials - brain responses as a response to specific stimuli
  • EMG (Electromyography) - recording the electrical activity of the muscle
  • NCS (Nerve Conduction Studies) - assess nerve and muscle function.
  • Video EEG ,Ambulatory EEG,Sleep Study,Magneto-encephalography,Transcranial Magnetic Stimulator,Brain Mapping and Single Fiber EMG

14. B.Sc. Cardio Pulmonary Perfusion Care Technology
B.Sc. Cardio Pulmonary Perfusion Care Technology

The Cardio- Thoracic surgeon needs to work on a Stopped Heart for certain surgeries and it is necessary to temporarily replace the patient's heart and lung function. It is the responsibility of the perfusionist (A candidate completing the B. Sc (Cardio Pulmonary Perfusion care Technology Course), a specialized healthcare professional, to assume the function of the heart and/or lungs during these surgical procedures.

A perfusionist operates a heart-lung machine, which is an artificial blood pump, which propels oxygenated blood to the patient's tissues while the surgeon operates on the heart. The perfusionist manages the physiological and metabolic demands of the patient while the cardiac surgeon operates on the heart. It is also the perfusionist's responsibility to deliver the drug that stops the heart.

A perfusionist generally spends 90% of his or her time in the operation theatre for cardiac cases, but the responsibilities extending to the areas such as cardiovascular intensive care unit and catheterization laboratory.

15. Audiology and Speech Language Pathology [BASLP]
